Wednesday was the night of the Hatfield 5k series Race 2. After last month’s race one in which 2 club records were broken the bar was set very high for the evening’s racing. We were not disappointed with many fine performances; Kate Rennie winning the ladies race and the ladies team going one better than race one and winning the Herts Vets County Championship.

Leading the way was Kate Rennie in 17.53 – 1st FV45 and Herts Vets Champion. Thomas Mack followed in 18.40 and then Louis Sanford in 19.11 almost a minute quicker than race 1. Samantha Fawcett also timed at 19.11 was 2nd in the FV35 CAT, whilst Rebecca Fawcett (21.45) described it as her best run in years. Louise Flower also beat her race 1 time in a superb 22.07. Celia Findlay 22.17 was 2nd in the FV55 CAT, Philip Pugh 22.36, Andy Mitchell 22.46, Sophie Routledge 22.55 and Nigel Wiggins 24.35 all ran great races.

Congratulations to each runner for some speedy running and to the Ladies team for winning the Vets county championship with very tough competition.
